Why should I choose this course?
Centacare’s Employability Skills Training (EST) is designed to support young people between the ages of 15 and 24 to gain the skills they need to successfully obtain and maintain a job in an office administration role. The training is delivered face-to-face in two blocks of three weeks each.
Note: it is possible to enrol in Training Block 2 without previously completing Training Block 1.

TRAINING BLOCK 1
Training Block 1 focuses on work skills to help participants meet the expectations of employers in the workplace. They will learn communication, teamwork, time management, problem solving and additional technology skills.
Training is provided as three units of competency:
- BSBWOR202 Organise and complete daily work activities;
- BSBCUS301 Deliver and monitor a service to customers; and
- BSBITU203 Communicate electronically.
These units form part of BSB20115 and BSB30115 Certificate II and III in Business and collectively cover all of the 10 Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework. (Please refer to Centacare’s Service Delivery Plan Attachment of Details for further information as to learning outcomes.)
TRAINING BLOCK 2
Training Block 2 focuses on career development and job preparation. Participants learn advanced job hunting skills, interview skills, how to write a letter of application, respond to selection criteria and prepare a résumé while learning about jobs available in different industries. They will attend industry presentations that will highlight different work environments to help them discover which industry is right for them.
Training is provided as one unit of competency:
- GATCDV101A Introduction to Career Development.
This unit is used together with additional learning material to provide a broader understanding. (Please refer to Centacare’s Service Delivery Plan Attachment of Details for further information as to learning outcomes.)
Young people can participate in one or both blocks of training depending on their needs.
Am I eligible for this course?
To be eligible for training, participants must be aged between 15 and 24 years old, on income support, registered with a jobactive provider and have mutual obligation requirements.
For participants to complete the units of competence and perform to the standards required in the workplace they should have reasonable computing, literacy and oracy skills.
How can I register for the course?
To register for the course participants must be referred by their jobactive provider at https://ecsn.gov.au/logon.
How much will it cost?
This course is free for eligible participants. Centacare Employment and Training is delivering the Employability Skills Training component of the Australian Government’s Youth Jobs PaTH initiative. Employability Skills Training providers are funded by the Australian Government.
