Language, Literacy, & Numeracy Programme
Are your English language, reading, writing or maths skills making it difficult for you to get or keep a job? Do you need to improve your skills to go on to further study or training?
If you want to improve your speaking, reading, spelling, writing or maths skills, go to Centrelink or your Job Network and ask about free training in the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Programme (LLNP)
You will improve your skills and work towards a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate in General Education for Adults).
Why should I do this course?
LLNP training is about helping you get the skills you need to get a job or to go on to further study or traning.
It can:
- Improve your spoken and written English language skills;
- Imporove your reading, writing and maths skills;
- Help you with using a computer;
- Make it easier for you to get and keep a job; and
- Give you the confidence and skills to do some further sudy or training.
You will also have the chance to get a nationally recongised qualification. All students work towards the Certificate in General Education for Adults (CGEA) or ESL frameworks.
It doesn’t matter if you didn’t like school. At Centacare you can learn at your own pace with lots of help from your teacher. You will be part of a friendly group.
Students are of all ages, from all backgrounds and many different countries and cultures.
How long is the course?
You will study between 10 and 20 hours each week. Your Job Network or Centrelink might set a minimum number of hours for you. Most students come to class two or three times a week.
The course is 200 hours and you can study up to 5 courses in 2 years
When does it start?
You can enter the program almost any time. It has no start and end dates. Adults are referred to the program each day and new groups are started to cater to the demand. Groups are small and medium-sized.
How much is the course?
The course is free if you are 15 to 64 years old and registered as a jobseeker with Centrelink.
You’ll need to check you can do the course with Centrelink or your Job Network.
How do I get on the course?
Contact Centrelink or your Job Network and tell them you’d like to join the LLNP (Language, Literacy and Numeracy Programme).
