Que: How did you like the course?
Marie: “I liked the Business course very much, the units I learned about were helpful and challenging at the same time.”
Que: Where are you going to do your work experience?
Marie: “I am undertaking my work experience in Leederville where I am working in an office administration role and am responsible for a variety of tasks such as reception, data entry and the setting up of functions.”
Que: What are your plans for the future?
Marie: I chose the Certificate III in Business course as a stepping stone into the workforce and will consider further study afterwards.”
Que: How did you like the course?
Beta: “All the information provided during the course was very useful and I feel confident to use my new learned skills in the future. I feel that I learned a lot and that I’m prepared for the workforce.”
Que: Why did you study at Centacare?
Beta: “The work experience organised by Centacare is great … I chose Certificate III in Business to get an Australian qualification and get prepared for the job market.”
Beta is planning to apply for a role in an office once she finishes her work placement and recommends Certificate III in Business to others.
Stephanie first started at Centacare in Mirrabooka where she attended the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program to prepare for work and further training. She then applied for Certificate III in Business to improve her computer skills and learn about working in an office.
Que: What are you doing for your work experience?
Stephanie: “I am currently doing my work experience – working in reception for three weeks. I am keen to work in an office environment for a couple of years and then pursue further study. The teachers at Centacare have a lot of patience and are very friendly. I am confident that the training will enable me to fulfil my career wishes.”
Meet some of the participants undertaking Employability Skills Training with the new Youth Jobs PaTH program.
Congratulations to Laura, one of our Youth Jobs PaTH participants. Laura is on a high just now as not only has she secured permanent employment as a fly-in, fly-out hospitality worker but she has also been nominated as a finalist in the 2017 Aboriginal Model Search in Western Australia!!
Que: So how have you found the course Laura? “I love it – it’s really cool. I’ve learnt a lot and am definitely keen to do Block 2 of the course”
Que: So Laura, where do you see yourself in the future work-wise? “I want to find a good job and I think the mining industry will open up opportunities for me, especially now that I’ve done this course. Ultimately, I would like to be a flight attendant as I love travel and meeting new people.”
Meet Shaun, another of our talented Youth Jobs PaTH students. In his spare time, Shaun is a budding actor and director who has recently written, directed and acted in a 45-minute thriller, filmed in a documentary-style and entitled ‘TEN’. The movie trailer is out on YouTube already while Shaun finishes up the final movie editing.
Que: So how’s the course going for you Shaun? “Really good. Lynn (our Lecturer) has been amazing and so helpful. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with teachers who haven’t really cared about how you’re going but it’s been a really different experience with Lynn.”
Que: So do you feel that you’ve learnt new things that will be helpul? “Definitely. There’s been a lot of ‘refreshing’ of existing knowledge but I’ve also learnt a lot of new things like how to write reports. We’ve also had great incursions including having the Production and Design Team from the WA Academy of Performing Arts come in to talk to us today about courses and careers in the performing arts. It was great.”
Well done to our fabulous students who are achieving so much.
“I was really struggling financially. Having been able to do the course has changed my children’s and my life. I now have a qualification I can use and build on.”
“It also set an example to my children that there are people who care and are kind. It has motivated them to study while they have the opportunity so they do have a better chance in life.”
“In Centacare, I feel like I am staying and learning with part of my family.”
“I feel warm, welcomed by many friends”
“I have self-esteem since I entered Centacare to study. I am not lonely any more, I am so happy to study at Centacare because it has changed my life.”
“Sometimes Centacare invites special guests to talk about law, renting, saving money, employment and domestic violence. I have a good teacher who is friendly and caring.”
“I thank everyone at Centacare”
