Annual fundraising efforts a great success for Centacare’s SEE students in 2017

Each year, the students and teachers in Centacare’s Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program work hard to raise money for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.

This year they have outdone themselves, raising a whopping $3200 and packing 163 shoeboxes in total!

Operation Christmas Child is a charity program run by Samaritan’s Purse where donors prepare and collect shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other small gifts for disadvantaged and poverty-stricken children who live in overseas countries.

Our students and teachers at our Cannington and Gosnells training sites have donated their time and resources to organise and run many fundraising events throughout the year, including raffles, sausage sizzles, food stalls, fruit markets, swap meets and more.

Not only do these fundraising activities contribute to the shoebox appeal, but they are also a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn fundraising strategies, practice their mathematics skills, and practice counting money and cash handling skills.

We are very proud of what our students and teachers have accomplished with their significant donation to the charity this year. Well done everyone!
