In light of recent developments of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Centacare Employment and Training is actively monitoring the ongoing advice from the Australian Government and ensures appropriate precautions are carried out across all our training sites to mitigate the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
Wednesday, 25 March 2020
All Centacare Employment and Training sites remain open. We will continue to monitor the Australian Government’s advice and update in this section should any circumstances change. While classes are proceeding as per usual, we are taking precautions and actions to prioritise the wellbeing of our students and staff.
About Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The World Health Organization has announced that Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a pandemic. The virus can spread from person to person through contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze.
In Australia, the people most at risk of getting the virus are those who have:
- Travellers who have recently been overseas
- Those who have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
What does this mean for Centacare students?
Following the advice from the Department of Health, classes will be operating as per usual until further advice. Centacare trainers and teachers carry out an extensive routine of cleaning and wiping down all high touch areas, including tables, chairs, monitor screens, keyboards and doorknobs. Social distancing measures are in place allowing two square metres separation and limit number of students in each classroom.
To help stop the spread of COVID-19, students are required to practice personal preventative measures:
Students who have been:
– overseas on or after 16th March 2020, or
– experiencing any flu-like symptoms including, cough, sore throat, fever and/or shortness of breath (even if symptoms are mild) or
– in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19
must stay at home to prevent the possible spread of the virus to other people.
If the above is you, please advise your teacher/trainer immediately. It is mandatory that you do not attend classes and follow the self-isolation requirements as found here.
Good Hygiene Standards
Everyone must maintain good personal hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus. Sanitisers are available at the entrance of every Centacare training sites and soaps are fully stocked in restrooms to enable better hand hygiene practices for everyone.
Follow these simple steps to protect yourself and those around you:
