Centacare Employment and Training proudly unveiled our newly built library at Gosnells site this morning.

Centacare Gosnells library is a tremendous addition to providing free, accessible, educational resources for clients in Centacare’s Skills for Employment and Education (SEE) program. It offers a collection of books for adults and adolescents designed to help new English learners master the language in a fun and engaging way. The library enables students to access books, no matter what their reading level. By immersing themselves in reading students improve their vocabulary and writing skills too!

Our Gosnells site coordinator, Anne Mahon, says, ‘For three years we have been working behind the scenes at Gosnells site putting together this amazing library of graded readers that allow students to access books to read at a level that suits them.’

Our clients will be able to borrow books from the library, and return them after reading. They can also read them at the Gosnells site. The library would not be made possible without our staff members as well as the charitable support from our community.

‘I feel really blessed by the generosity of the following people who have made this library possible,’ Anne continued.

‘Shane Scudder, who has donated paint, his time and expertise to install the display shelving,’

‘The students of Corpus Christi College, who have generously donated to the SEE Program from their Book Week 2020 fundraiser where a portion of the funds went towards the purchase of the materials for shelving and additional books,’

‘Isabella Schantz, who has donated her valuable time establishing the library database,’

‘Yoko Hara and Najla Salame, our wonderful admin staff will help out students with checking out books,’

‘and the dedicated teaching staff at Gosnells for taking the time to promote the joys of reading with their students.’

We are delighted to announce that our Centacare Gosnells library is now open to all students to borrow and enjoy a range of books.
