Centacare’s Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) students at our Cannington training site recently held a fundraiser including a sausage sizzle, clothes sale, and fruit market.

The students successfully raised $250 to go towards the shoebox appeal for Operation Christmas Child, a charity program run by Samaritan’s Purse where donors prepare and collect shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other small gifts for disadvantaged and poverty-stricken children who live in overseas countries.

The fundraiser was a great success, with special thanks to Farmer Jack’s Maddington who very generously donated 400 sausages and bread rolls as well as bananas, apples and oranges to help the cause. Several of the students and teachers also donated some second hand clothes and shoes to sell.

Last year our students made and posted 88 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and they hope to do another 60 boxes this year. Our students in Gosnells have already raised more than $300 for the appeal and fundraising will continue over the next few months.
